The Trio

Piano: Cleon Barraclough
Bass: PW Farrell
Drums: Sacha Kloostra

After their national tour of premier jazz clubs in early 2015, composer and pianist Cleon Barraclough reunites with Sacha K on drums to perform songs off their debut album Techni-colour Rain. Joined by the consummate PW Farrell on electric bass, the trio’s music is inspired by salsa, timba, funk and contemporary jazz.

Cleon, PW Farrell and Sacha K bring intricate Afro-Cuban grooves and jazz improvisation skills to audiences through their diverse musical experiences. Cleon was composer, performer and producer for his 2011 album Globalectic, which was noted in reviews for its “progressive and adventurous” merging of genres. Sacha K holds the drum chair for Afro-Cuban ensemble Chukale. His many collaborations with artists from diverse musical backgrounds reflect the knowledge and capability he brings to the project. Electric Bassist PW Farrell has performed internationally and his first solo release was reviewed as “one of the best albums of the year.”

With a highly entertaining blend of Latin American grooves, modern jazz harmonies and improvisation, Cleon’s Three will sweep you into a concoction of world sounds, improvisation, modern jazz and heart thumping grooves.

“The album represents the melding of each individual musician’s distinctive influence on each other’s crafts; a truly organic and collaborative project.” (Eastside FM, Sydney)
